Dear Father Scurti:
Gee! Your work is magnificent. I love Mother and Child, as well as Franciscan. The cubist element in Simon of Cyrene is neat. I actually thought that you were a sculptor, musician or other type of artist when I first saw your visage; then, I espied the collar and your program format and dismissed the other notions. I am glad that I came upon your site. It reminded me that gut feelings and first impressions usually are the correct ones.  I am so happy to know that your spirituality extends not only to printed text and oral expository, but to the lifeblood that is found when the soul connects to the brush. Thank you for accepting your calling to G-d. Thank you for the program on the Prayer Chanel. It rocks!!! Be ever Blessed. Stay neat!

I am so very privileged to have seen  you within the week at Espiritu Santo, where I attend every week even though I call another Parish (that needs my help more) home. I have made comments about  your visits and you can read it here:

Thank you  for making my February go so blessedly –
I can't begin to express our heartfelt thanks for last Sunday.  It was the first time we had ever had the opportunity to hear you sermonize!  Is there nothing you aren't excellent at?    All of our friends and family made it a point to tell us how much they enjoyed the service and wished they lived closer to the university so that they could attend more often.   It couldn't have been more fitting or perfect.   I'm sure that Scot was pleased also . Again, thanks and we look forward to seeing you again.

A well deserved tribute to you.
You are fantastic with all ages.   What a gift!   Your knowledge pours out like sweet honey to the mind.   We learn SO very much from your homilies, and also when we are just having fun.   You are a rare found  and fond treasure to us.
Fondly,    Rich and Camille
Dear Father Lou:
I am a member of the “Jewish Community” who attended the model seder last night at the chapel. My wife and I, along with our good friends Fred and Barbara G, attended at the request of our other good friends Bill and Lorraine L I know you remember Fred, he wrote the letter about the stained glass windows.  I want you to know how enjoyable the entire evening was for all of us. We now understand and appreciate the glowing comments, about you, that we’ve been hearing from Bill and Lorraine.

We had been planning to attend a Sunday mass, just to hear you and after last night you might see us again from time to time.
Thank you again for a wonderfully enjoyable evening, spiritually and socially.

Congratulations! You are doing a great ministry!! Peace, Pat
Saint Anthony celebration to feed the Poor
St. Anthony of Padua Collection & Shelter the Homeless Collection net $7599 for the Poor
Father Louis J. Scurti and Matthew Shields, Campus Ministers at the Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Chapel presented Mr. Joseph Duffy, Executive Director of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson and Sr. Gloria Perez, Director of Eva’s Village, Paterson, with a check of $3799.50 each on behalf of the poor that   each organization serves.
The money was the total of the Annual “Shelter the Homeless Collection” co-sponsored by the Catholic Campus Ministry Club and other organizations of William Paterson University and the donations in honor of St. Anthony and other saints made to the Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Chapel, throughout the 2006-7 scholastic year.
“We are honored to be able to share with the poor of Eva’s Village and Catholic Charities” said Matthew Shields, as he presented the checks.  “The donations of money to the poor, through the year as well as the food that was shared at the reception which followed the Mass in honor of Saint Anthony, June 13, allows us to celebrate and share our faith in Jesus Christ, who was Saint Anthony’s model and guide” said Father Scurti.

Dear Father Scurti
We cannot praise you enough, Father, for your ability to motivate people to hear the Word of God. You have a special gift from God to reach and touch the hearts and lives of many.  We are two of the many whose hearts you have touched.      We look forward to attending your celebration of Mass, and listening to your homilies in the future.       With love and admiration,
Rich and Camille
Hi Fr. Lou,
We all enjoyed the concert so much, everyone comes together at Campus Ministry without competing with each other, it's nice to witness!
I must tell you how very much Theresa enjoyed being at the Holy Hour on Sunday.  Theresa wasn't use to praying silently for an hour , Theresa shared with us that she wrote a letter to herself that Matt will mail to her....Theresa also brought home a Mother Teresa brochure and I asked if she read it, she said she did because she had nothing else to do!
As Theresa was making bows with ribbons on Monday after school at home, Theresa was spending a lot of time doing it, I firmly recommended that Theresa start her homework and leave the busywork for another day.
Well, with that, Theresa blurts out "MOM, THIS IS NOT BUSYWORK, I'M PREPARING FOR THE COMING OF JESUS"!*!*!*!**!
You could have knocked me over with a feather when Theresa so confidently told me that!
I asked her where she heard that statement  and Theresa said "at Father Lou's Homily Sunday Night, I like when Fr. Lou opens the bible and explains things, I learned a lot from Fr. Lou's Homily on Sunday"!*!*!**!*!
Thank you again for going that extra mile for those in attendance at mass!!!!    I had to let you know how much this meant to a 16 yr old!!!!  All the material things in the world doesn't mean as much to me as having our children catch on to our faith, thank you for confirming our beliefs in a way the body of the church at the chapel understands!

Dear Father Lou,
I want to thank you for making the celebration of the feast of St. Therese so very special.  I look forward to those three special days each year (
of the Triduum).  (I can't elieve another year has passed.)
Your words are inspiring and always express so elequently the devotion we all have to this fearless little saint.  She continues to teach us through you that faith is really not complicated but simple childlike trust in Jesus.
I enjoy being at Prince of Peace. It is always so peaceful and friendly.                                                                        Peace be with you, Leanne P.
Hi Fr Lou,
Wow, you sure are a scripture scholar!*!*!*!  You weave your teaching into modern day reality so well!  I remember being at a scripture class with Charlie P and I was so lost!!!
I felt better when my husband was lost too!!!  It's always nice when you teach your congregation in language they understand , you always manage to do that extraordinary well , you never talk down to the congregation and you never talk above them.
Students, friends, as well as professors, you strike a nice balance, not talking to children nor above the comprehension of the adults present, just such a nice way of presenting the facts and tying it into our present day situations! We also like your superior enthusiasm as you interpret the readings, you truly believe what you say and it shows!  Congratulations, you have achieved what few have been known to achieve in their vocation!*!*!
You make everyone feel  so casual and free spirited at the chapel, thanks for sharing so much of your knowledge with us!
Greatfully, Maureen G.
Father Lou,
My wife Lydia, and two kids (Alex-12 and Lauren-10) are new to the Prince of Peace Chapel. We have been attending mass for the past several months and have been very moved by the experience. As a 46 year old who has been attending mass my entire life, I can comfortably say that your masses, and the Prince of Peace "feel", are the most inspiring that I have attended.  There are several special things about the experience for us. One of the most special, is that for the first time, Lydia and I notice that my children are actually listening to your homily (at least most of it) and truly trying to live and behave the way that the bible teaches us to.
I wanted to thank you for this, and just let you know how special Prince of Peace is becoming in our lives. I have two questions that I wanted to get some guidance on when you have a moment.
.        We wanted to try to get more involved as a family in some community service, and would like to get any suggestions that you might have for us. When you get a free minute, if you could give us your thoughts, we would appreciate it.
See you on Sunday. Mark K
From a Blog on the Chapel...
I've been to this parish before. The best way to describe it physically and artistically - if you're an Apple user - is "iChurch".
Father Lou was completely orthodox and gave one of the best - and Christocentric - homilies I've ever heard in Jersey. And there wasn't any hint of liturgical abuse.
I went there another time and Father Lou remembered me and my girlfriend. There was no dog walking around during the mass (although he was meandering about prior to mass - although not by the altar), and he gave a completely orthodox homily - this time exhorting morality and - if memory serves me - the pro-life cause and chastity. Both times I've been there, the liturgy was conducted with absolute orthopraxis. I'll definitely go again.
